Hostal Loreto is situated in the medieval centre of Denia, close to many good restaurants and shops.
The hotel was formerly a nunnery and was built by the Marquis del Campo about 450 years ago. It is 800 metres from the beach. It is rumoured that there is a secret tunnel to the castle on the hill top behind the hotel......
The hotel has 43 recently refurbished bedrooms. 12 rooms have interconnecting doors and can be configured as family suites. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers or baths, hairdryers, air-conditioning and ceiling fans.
There are activities to suit everyone in and around Denia, including golf, sailing, scuba diving, kite boarding and windsurfing, jet skiing, mountain biking, horse riding and climbing. Many people come however just to enjoy the 20 kilometres of beautiful beaches!
Denia is steeped in history going back to Grecian times and beyond. The castle overlooking the hotel was built by the Moors during their 700 year occupation of the area and is built on the site of Roman ruins.
There are many annual fiestas and celebrations in Denia all of which involve copious quantities of music, processions and fire-works. In March the "Fallas" (burning of effigies to symbolise the start of Spring), in April the Easter parades, in July "Bous de la mar" (Bulls in the sea), in August "Moors and Christians", to name but a few. There are also many outdoor concerts and festivals such as the annual International Dance Festival in September.
